Street children, as defined by UNICEF, are any girl or boy who has not reached adulthood, for whom the street has become her or his home, and who is inadequately protected, supervised, or directed by responsible adults. They are minors who live and survive in the streets. They often grow up in public landfills, train stations, or under bridges and make up 1 to 3% of the population of children moreover they are the ones usually exposed to the risks such as drugs, malnutrition, human trafficking, prostitution, and child labor. This proposal is specially designed for the non-government organization having the aim to improve the condition of street children.

This project has objectives like teaching the children the basics of their rights and health. The proposal will also help socialize with other children to gain friends and unleash their hidden talents and skills of the children. The expected results of the proposal are to know their freedoms and obligations as a youngster. This proposal will also help to figure out how to deal with themselves by becoming healthy and upgrading their abilities and talents and using them.

BACKGROUND/ SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

Street children are minors who live and survive in the streets. They often grow up in public landfills, train stations, or under the bridges.

Street children, as defined by UNICEF, is any girl or boy who has not reached adulthood, for whom the street has become her or his home and who is inadequately protected, supervised or directed by responsible adults.

Street children makes up 1 to 3% of the population of children in the Philippines and they were the ones usually exposed to the risks such as drugs, malnutrition, human trafficking, prostitution, and child labor.

According to a 2015 report on Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), there were about 1.5 million street children in the Philippines and most of them were subjected to problems such as drugs, malnutrition, human rights violations, human trafficking, sexual exploitation, prostitution, and child labor.

Because of this situation, the “xxxxx” group decided to propose the project that will help those street children to achieve their rights as a child through a series of various activities that they will surely enjoy during the summer vacations and also to raise awareness for the risks of being in the streets.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

 The Project aims to:

  • Teach the children with the basics of their rights as a child.
  • Teach the children on how to take care of their body.
  • Help the children in socializing with other children to gain friends.
  • Unleash the hidden talent and skills of the children.
  • Conduct activities wherein they will not just enjoy but also learn.

EXPECTED OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT

By the end of this Project on YYYY, the children that participated were expected to:

  • Know their rights and responsibilities as a child.
  • Learn how to take care of themselves by becoming healthy and sanitary.
  • Gain friends from the summer program.
  • Enhance their skills and talents and utilize it.
  • Enjoy and learn a lot of things.

RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN

  • Children’s Participation

The Activity Facilitators will ensure that all the children that attends the summer program will participate in the activities given for them.

  • Children’s Health and Safety

The Facilitators and the Aides will guarantee that the children will be safe inside the premises.

  • Peace and Order during the Activities

The Facilitators and Aides will make sure that there is peace and order in the activity area during the activities.
